Trandolapril
Generic Name: Trandolapril (tran-DOLE-a-pril)
Brand Name: Mavik
DO NOT take Trandolapril if you are pregnant. Trandolapril can cause injury and possibly death to an unborn baby when used after the third month of pregnancy. Talk with your doctor at once if you suspect that you are pregnant. |
Trandolapril is used for:Treatment of high blood pressure. It is also used to prevent hospitalization and improve survival after a heart attack in certain patients. It may be used alone or with other medicines. It may also be used for certain conditions as determined by your doctor.
Trandolapril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It works by decreasing a chemical that tightens blood vessels. This causes blood vessels to relax (dilate), which lowers blood pressure and decreases the workload on the heart.
Do NOT use Trandolapril if:
- you are allergic to any ingredient in Trandolapril or to any other ACE inhibitor (eg, enalapril)
- you have ever had an allergic reaction (rash; hives; difficulty breathing;
tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue) to any other ACE inhibitor (eg, captopril, lisinopril)
- you are pregnant
Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.
