Sodium Hypochlorite

Sodium Hypochlorite is used for:

Preventing and treating infection of the skin and tissue. It may also be used before and after surgery or to treat cuts, abrasions, and skin ulcers. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Sodium Hypochlorite is a topical antimicrobial. It works by killing sensitive bacteria.

Do NOT use Sodium Hypochlorite if:

• you are allergic to any ingredient in Sodium Hypochlorite or to chlorine compounds

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

Before using Sodium Hypochlorite :

Some medical conditions may interact with Sodium Hypochlorite . Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

• if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
• if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
• if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances

Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Sodium Hypochlorite . However, no specific interactions with Sodium Hypochlorite are known at this time.

How to use Sodium Hypochlorite :

Use Sodium Hypochlorite as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

• This product is for external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. If you get Sodium Hypochlorite in your eyes, rinse immediately with cool water.
• Sodium Hypochlorite may be used to irrigate or cleanse a wound, or as the wetting agent for a wet-to-moist dressing.
• Pour Sodium Hypochlorite on or apply to the affected area as directed on the package labeling or by your doctor.
• Protect the normal skin surrounding the wound with a moisture-barrier ointment or skin sealant as needed.
• If you miss a dose of Sodium Hypochlorite , use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.

Important safety information:

• Stop using Sodium Hypochlorite and check with your doctor if redness, irritation, swelling, or pain persists or increases.
• Sodium Hypochlorite may bleach clothing.
• PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant while taking Sodium Hypochlorite , discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Sodium Hypochlorite during pregnancy. It is unknown if Sodium Hypochlorite is excreted in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you are using Sodium Hypochlorite , check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.

Possible side effects of Sodium Hypochlorite :

All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome:

Mild skin irritation.

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue).

If OVERDOSE is suspected:

Store Sodium Hypochlorite at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C), in a tightly closed container. Do not freeze. Store away from heat and light. Keep Sodium Hypochlorite out of the reach of children and away from pets.
