Brand Name: Primaxin IM

  • you have heart block or severe shock
  • you are taking probenecid
  • the patient is a child with a brain or nervous system infection, or weighs less than 66 lb (30 kg) and has kidney problems

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

Before using Primaxin IM :

Some medical conditions may interact with Primaxin IM . Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

  • if you are on dialysis

Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Primaxin IM . Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:

  • Ganciclovir because risk of seizures may be increased
  • Amiodarone, beta-blockers (eg, propranolol), cimetidine, mexiletine, or probenecid because actions and side effects of Primaxin IM , such as heart or nerve toxicity, may be increased
