DescriptionNitazoxanide (nye-tah-ZOX-ah-nide) belongs to a group of medicines called antiprotozoals. It is used to treat diarrhea that is caused by certain types of protozoa (tiny, one-celled animals). This medicine is available only with your healthcare professional"s prescription, in the following dosage forms:
Before Using This MedicineIn deciding to use a medicine, the risks of using the medicine must be weighed against the good it will do. For nitazoxanide, the following should be considered: Allergies—Tell your healthcare professional if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to nitazoxanide.
