Why is MiraLax prescribed?

MiraLax is a remedy for constipation. It works by retaining water in the stool, softening it and increasing the frequency of bowel movements. It may take up to 2 to 4 days to work.

Most important fact about MiraLax

Unless your doctor directs otherwise, do not use MiraLax for more than 2 weeks. Sustained, frequent, or excessive use can upset the body"s chemical balance, and can lead to dependence on laxatives.

How should you take MiraLax?

Dissolve 1 capful or packet of MiraLax powder (17 grams) in 8 ounces of water, juice, soda, coffee, or tea.

Take the forgotten dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and return to your regular schedule. Do not take two doses at once.
