Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets

Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets is used for:

Treating low magnesium levels or maintaining the proper amount of magnesium in the body. It also may be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets is an essential mineral. It works by adding magnesium to your body if your magnesium levels are low.

Do NOT use Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets if:

• you are allergic to any ingredient in Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

Before using Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets:

Some medical conditions may interact with Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

• if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
• if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
• if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
• if you have appendicitis, diarrhea, a blockage of your intestines, heart problems, or kidney problems

Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets. Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:

• Anticoagulants (eg, warfarin) because the actions and side effects of these medicines may be increased
• Penicillamine, quinolone antibiotics (eg, ciprofloxacin), or tetracyclines (eg, doxycycline) because the effectiveness of Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets may be decreased
• Bisphosphonates (eg, risedronate) or digoxin because effectiveness may be decreased by this medicine

This may not be a complete list of all interactions that may occur. Ask your health care provider if Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets may interact with other medicines that you take. Check with your health care provider before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine.

How to use Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets:

Use Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

• Take Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets with food.
• If you miss a dose of Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets and are using it regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets.

Important safety information:

• Before you have any medical or dental treatments, emergency care, or surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets.
• LAB TESTS, including magnesium levels, may be performed to monitor your progress or to check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments.
• Use Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets with extreme caution in CHILDREN. Safety and effectiveness have not been confirmed.
• PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets during pregnancy. If you are or may be pregnant, check with your doctor for instructions on using Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets during pregnancy. It is unknown if Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets is excreted in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding, check with your doctor to discuss the risks to your baby.

Possible side effects of Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets:

All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome:

Diarrhea.

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); nausea; slow reflexes.

Symptoms may include confusion; dizziness; flushing; loss of consciousness; muscle weakness; severe drowsiness; slow heartbeat.

Store Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Mag-SR Sustained-Release Tablets out of the reach of children and away from pets.
