How to use Gentamicin Ointment:

Use Gentamicin Ointment as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

  • To use Gentamicin Ointment, wash your hands. Tilt your head back. Using your index finger, pull the lower eyelid away from the eye to form a pouch. Squeeze a thin strip of ointment into the pouch and gently close your eyes. Keep your eyes closed for 1 to 2 minutes. Wash your hands to remove any medicine that may be on them. To prevent germs from entering your medicine, do not touch the applicator tip to any surface, including your eye. Keep the container tightly closed.
  • Gentamicin Ointment should never be injected into the eye.
  • Do not wear contact lenses while you are using Gentamicin Ointment. Sterilize contact lenses according to manufacturer"s directions and check with your doctor before using them.
