Dimethicone Cream

Generic Name: Dimethicone Cream (dye-METH-i-kone)
Brand Name: Examples include Johnson"s Baby Cream and Remedy Skin Repair

Dimethicone Cream is used for:

Moisturizing the skin. It may also have other uses, such as treating or preventing dry, itchy skin or minor skin irritations.

This product is an emollient. It works by moisturizing the skin.

Do NOT use Dimethicone Cream if:

you are allergic to any ingredient in Dimethicone Cream

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

Before using Dimethicone Cream:

Tell your health care provider if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
if your skin is scraped or damaged

Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Dimethicone Cream. However, no specific interactions with Dimethicone Cream are known at this time.

How to use Dimethicone Cream:

Use Dimethicone Cream as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

Dimethicone Cream is for external use only. Do not get Dimethicone Cream in your eyes, nose, or mouth. If you get Dimethicone Cream in your eyes, rinse immediately with cool tap water.
Wash your hands before and after using Dimethicone Cream unless your hands are a part of the treated area.
Wash and completely dry the affected area. Apply only enough of Dimethicone Cream to completely cover the affected area, then gently rub in until it is evenly distributed. Only medicine that is actually touching the skin will work. A thick layer of medicine is usually not more effective than a thin layer.
Do not wrap or bandage the treated area unless directed to do so by your doctor.
If you miss using Dimethicone Cream for 1 or more days, there is no cause for concern. If your doctor recommended that you use it, try to remember every day.

Important safety information:

PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant while taking Dimethicone Cream, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Dimethicone Cream during pregnancy. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you are using Dimethicone Cream, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.

Possible side effects of Dimethicone Cream:

All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome:

Mild itching, burning, or stinging.

Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); severe or persistent itching, burning, or stinging; skin irritation; worsening dryness.

Proper storage of Dimethicone Cream:

Store Dimethicone Cream at room temperature, between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not freeze. Keep Dimethicone Cream out of the reach of children and away from pets.
