Topotecan

Generic Name: Topotecan (toe-poe-TEE-kan)
Brand Name: Hycamtin

Topotecan should only be used under close medical supervision. Monitoring and laboratory tests (eg, blood cell counts) will need to be performed.

Topotecan is used for:

Treating ovarian cancer and small cell lung cancer that do not respond well to other types of cancer treatment. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Topotecan is an antineoplastic. It works by killing cancer cells.

Do NOT use Topotecan if:

  • you are allergic to any ingredient in Topotecan
  • you are pregnant or are breast-feeding
  • you have bone marrow depression or severely low blood cell counts

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.
