It may be used alone or in combination with other medicines, such as diuretics. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor. Labetalol is an adrenergic receptor blocker. It works by blocking both alpha and beta receptors in the body, which results in the lowering of blood pressure. Do NOT use Labetalol if:
