Ivermectin

Ivermectin is used for:

Treating infections caused by certain parasites.

Ivermectin is an antiparasitic. It works by paralyzing and killing the parasite.

Do NOT use Ivermectin if:

• you are allergic to any ingredient in Ivermectin

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

Before using Ivermectin :

Some medical conditions may interact with Ivermectin . Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

• if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
• if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
• if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
• if you have any other infection (eg, Loa loa infection) or asthma, or you have recently traveled to areas where infection with parasites is likely

Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Ivermectin . However, no specific interactions with Ivermectin are known at this time.

How to use Ivermectin :

Use Ivermectin as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

• Take Ivermectin on an empty stomach with water.
• Ivermectin is usually taken in one dose. If you miss your dose of Ivermectin , take it as soon as possible.

Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Ivermectin .

Important safety information:

• Ivermectin may cause dizziness. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to Ivermectin . Using Ivermectin alone, with certain other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or perform other potentially dangerous tasks.
• Ivermectin may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting. Alcohol, hot weather, exercise, and fever can increase these effects. To prevent them, sit up or stand slowly, especially in the morning. Also, sit or lie down at the first sign of dizziness, lightheadedness, or weakness.
• Repeated follow-up and retreatment may be needed in some cases to make sure your infection is cleared up completely.
• LAB TESTS, including stool examinations, may be performed to monitor your progress. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments.
• Use Ivermectin with extreme caution in CHILDREN weighing less than 33 pounds (15 kilograms). Safety and effectiveness have not been confirmed.
• PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: Do not use Ivermectin if you are pregnant. If you suspect that you could be pregnant, contact your doctor immediately. Ivermectin is excreted in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you are using Ivermectin , check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.

Possible side effects of Ivermectin :

All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome:

Diarrhea; dizziness (in general or upon standing); headache; muscle pain; nausea.

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); back pain; cloudy vision or other unusual vision changes; confusion; eye pain, swelling, or redness; fast heartbeat; fever; incoordination; increased asthma attacks; joint pain; loss of bowel or bladder control; low blood pressure; red, swollen, or peeling skin; severe dizziness or lightheadedness; severe drowsiness or weakness; swelling of the arms, legs, ankles, or feet; tenderness or swelling in the neck, groin, underarms, or other areas; unusual mood or mental changes; yellowing of eyes or skin.

Symptoms may include abnormal skin sensations; diarrhea; difficulty breathing; dizziness; headache; incoordination; nausea; seizures; stomach pain; swelling; weakness.

Store Ivermectin at room temperature, below 86 degrees F (30 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Keep Ivermectin out of the reach of children and away from pets.
