Imodium Advanced

Imodium Advanced is used for:

Treating and controlling diarrhea and gas (bloating, pressure, and cramps).

Imodium Advanced is an antiperistaltic and antiflatulent combination. The antiperistaltic acts on intestinal muscles and slows the movement of water and solids through the intestines. The antiflatulent works by breaking up gas bubbles, which makes gas easier to eliminate.

Do NOT use Imodium Advanced if:

• you are allergic to any ingredient in Imodium Advanced
• you have dysentery, bloody diarrhea with high fever, or black or bloody stools

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

Before using Imodium Advanced :

Some medical conditions may interact with Imodium Advanced . Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

• if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
• if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
• if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
• if you have infectious diarrhea, other bowel problems (eg, ulcerative colitis, pseudomembranous colitis), or mucus in the stool
• if you have a fever or a history of liver problems

Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Imodium Advanced . However, no specific interactions with Imodium Advanced are known at this time.

This may not be a complete list of all interactions that may occur. Ask your health care provider if Imodium Advanced may interact with other medicines that you take. Check with your health care provider before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine.

How to use Imodium Advanced :

Use Imodium Advanced as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

• Imodium Advanced may be taken with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation.
• Drink extra fluids while you are taking Imodium Advanced and while you have diarrhea.
• Do not use Imodium Advanced for more than 2 days unless directed to do so by a doctor.
• If you miss a dose of Imodium Advanced and are taking it regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Imodium Advanced .

Important safety information:

• Imodium Advanced may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to Imodium Advanced . Using Imodium Advanced alone, with certain other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or perform other potentially dangerous tasks.
• If your diarrhea does not improve within 48 hours or if you develop a fever, stop using Imodium Advanced and contact your doctor.
• Imodium Advanced may cause dry mouth. Chew sugarless gum or suck sugarless hard candy to reduce this effect.
• Imodium Advanced is not recommended for use in CHILDREN younger than 6 years of age without first checking with your doctor. Safety and effectiveness in this age group have not been confirmed.
• PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Imodium Advanced during pregnancy. It is unknown if Imodium Advanced is excreted in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding, check with your doctor to discuss the risks to your baby.

Possible side effects of Imodium Advanced :

All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. When used in small doses, no COMMON side effects have been reported with this product. Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); bloating; blood in the stools; constipation; fever; nausea; sudden abdominal pain or discomfort; swelling of the throat; vomiting.

If OVERDOSE is suspected:

Contact 1-800-222-1222 (the American Association of Poison Control Centers), your local poison control center (http://www.aapcc.org/findyour.htm), or emergency room immediately. Symptoms may include constipation; drowsiness or deep sleep; nausea; slow pulse; slowed breathing; vomiting.

Store at room temperature, between 59 and 77 degrees F (15 and 25 degrees C), in a tightly closed container. Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Imodium Advanced out of the reach of children and away from pets.
