It is also used to prevent mouth and throat infections in patients undergoing a bone marrow transplant. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

Before using Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets:

Some medical conditions may interact with Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

  • if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
  • if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
  • if you have allergies to medicines or other substances
  • if you have a weakened immune system; kidney or liver disease; HIV infection; diabetes; or heart problems, including irregular heartbeat

Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets. Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:

  • Amphotericin B, proton pump inhibitors (eg, omeprazole), or rifampin because they may decrease Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets"s effectiveness
  • Many prescription and nonprescription medicines (eg, used for migraine headaches, high blood pressure, diabetes, depression, anxiety, infections, seizures, allergies), oral blood thinners (eg, warfarin), nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (eg, celecoxib), cisapride, certain cancer medications (eg, tretinoin), medication to prevent organ rejection (eg, cyclosporine), "statin" medications (eg, atorvastatin), narcotic analgesics (eg, methadone), pimozide, terfenadine, or theophyllines (eg, aminophylline) may have their actions and side effects increased by Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets. Some side effects can be very serious, including abnormal or rapid beating of the heart, which may lead to death.
  • Losartan or oral contraceptives (birth control pills) because they may decrease Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets"s effectiveness. An alternate form of birth control (eg, condoms) is advised.
  • Corticosteroids (eg, prednisone) because its effectiveness may be decreased when Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets is discontinued

This may not be a complete list of all interactions that may occur. Ask your health care provider if Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets may interact with other medicines that you take. Check with your health care provider before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine.

How to use Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets:

Use Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

  • Take Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets by mouth with or without food.
  • Take Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets at least 2 hours before proton pump inhibitors (eg, omeprazole).
  • To clear up your infection completely, take Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets for the full course of treatment. Keep taking it even if you feel better in a few days.
  • For some women, it may take longer than 24 hours for symptom relief to begin. If your symptoms have not improved within 3 to 5 days, you should call your doctor.
  • Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets is usually given only once, but if given for more than one dose and you miss a dose of Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets.

Important safety information:

  • Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets may cause dizziness. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it.
  • Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets has been known to cause rare cases of serious liver damage, including death, mainly in patients with serious medical conditions. Liver damage caused by Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets has not been attributed to total daily dose, length of therapy, or sex or age of patient. This type of liver damage may or may not be reversible when Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets is stopped. If you notice any of the following symptoms, contact your doctor immediately: swollen or tender abdomen, yellowing of the eyes.
  • Diabetes patients - Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets may lower your blood sugar levels. Low blood sugar may make you anxious, sweaty, weak, dizzy, drowsy, or faint. It may also make your heart beat faster; make your vision change; give you a headache, chills, or tremors; or make you more hungry. It is a good idea to carry a reliable source of glucose (eg, tablets or gel) to treat low blood sugar. If this is not available, you should eat or drink a quick source of sugar like table sugar, honey, candy, orange juice, or non-diet soda. This will raise your blood sugar level quickly. Tell your doctor right away if this happens. To prevent low blood sugar, eat meals at the same time each day and do not skip meals.
  • Be sure to use Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets for the full course of treatment. If you do not, the medicine may not clear up your infection completely. The fungus could also become less sensitive to this or other medicines. This could make the infection harder to treat in the future.
  • Hormonal birth control (eg, birth control pills) may not work as well while you are using Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets. To prevent pregnancy, use an extra form of birth control (eg, condoms).
  • Lab tests, such as liver and kidney function, may be performed while you use Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets. These tests may be used to monitor your condition or check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments.
  • Use Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets with caution in the ELDERLY; they may be more sensitive to its effects.
  • PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets while you are pregnant. Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets is found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you use Fluconazole Single-Dose Tablets, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.
